جزیره کیش با مساحت ۹۱ کیلومتر مربع، پیرامون ساحلی ۴۳ کیلومتر و شکل کلی تقریباً بیضی، در فاصله ۱۸ کیلومتری بندر گرزه(بندر آفتاب )- سرزمین پیوسته ایران – در خلیج فارس قراردارد. کیش در ربع اول راستای سواحل ۱۳۵۹ کیلومتری جنوب ایران در دهانه ی خلیج فارس و تقریباً در نزدیک بخش پایانی این آبراه در محدوده تنگه هرمز واقع است. عرض شمال آن ۳۲ ۲۶ درجه و طول شرقی آن ۵۸ ۵۳ است و در جهت ساحل غربی – به ساحل شرقی (فاصله ی مجتمع مرجان – میدان هور) ، ۴۵/۱۵ کیلومتر طول دارد. بیشترین عرض جزیره در راستای ساحل جنوبی به ساحل شمالی (فاصله ی بندرگاه گمرک– فانوس دریائی) ۵/۷ کیلومتر است. سطح جزیره فاقد توپوگرافی ویژه مانند پدیده کوه و حتی تپه مرتفع است. فرودگاه بین المللی کیش در مرکز و در بخش مرتفع آن که حدود ۴۰ – ۳۵ متر ارتفاع دارد احداث شده است. بیشترین شیب جزیره از شمال فرودگاه به طرف ساحل (هتل شایان) است.

Kish Island, with an area of 91 square kilometers, a coastline of 43 kilometers, and an almost oval shape, is located 18 kilometers from the port of Garzeh (Bandar Aftab) on mainland Iran in the Persian Gulf Positioned in the first quarter of Iran’s 1,359-kilometer southern coastline near the mouth of the Persian Gulf, it lies close to the Strait of Hormuz. The steepest slope on the island runs from the north of the airport toward the coast (near Shayan Hotel).
